This is one of the best fantasy books I've read in a long time. It's part thriller and adventure and part history lesson (the history is so well done that it is woven into the story seemlessly without interrupting the suspense). It takes place in present time and includes a magical sword.

This book was so good that it earned permanent keeper status on my bookshelf. Now I want to read the entire series. I highly recommend it.

Wow. Surprisingly good book.
It's action/adventure with a little supernatural thrown in. The main character Annja Creed is, to me, a Lara Croft clone. So much so that at one point in the book she actually tells someone she's not a videogame heroine.
Now, to be fair and tell about some of the "down points", if you can call it that - Annja is one of those characters that can do just about anything - like Dirk Pitt from the Clive Cussler novels.
She's an archeologist in her mid to late 20's, beautiful, can speak multiple languages and read even more, can rock climb without using any equipment, knows martial arts - and apparently has a supernatural secret that we don't fully get explained in the this the first book of an apparently on-going series.
That stuff can be a negative in some instances - but it makes for a great exciting adventure here.

Annja Creed is not some wannabe video game heroine model! At least that's what she tells us in the beginning of this roaring adventure. But the reader will have a hard time separating her from that other female treasure hunter. I think she is secretly the daughter of Lara Croft and Indiana Jones :o)

I really enjoyed this adventure, and found it almost impossible to tear myself away when other duties (like eating and sleeping) demanded attention. I think you will like it too :o)

I really enjoyed this book. It was a quick read but packed with action and intrigue. I can't wait to read the next ones in the trilogy!

This fun novel grabs your attention right from the start, and holds it tight until the end. It features a strong heroine who kicks ass. Good first book in a series, with lots of room to grow and expand the story. A bit unbelievable, but fun escapism literature.

This is a thrilling adventure. It's slow in some places but there are a lot of characters that had to be fleshed out as well as some back story to get to. Since its the first in a series that isn't surprising. It gets a 4 out of 5
