A sexy, fast paced read. Can't quite tell the era, middle 1800's I think.
Hero and heroine are well matched and the hero has a dark secret which is slowly revealed throughout the book. Initially it is a more typical Have Sex, Made Baby, Gotta Get Married story. It becomes something more complex as you realize that Bentley is a very scarred individual with deep emotional issues.
The emotional tension kind of petered out for me toward the end, mostly because it was obvious what was coming but the characters were still blundering about blindly. It was a satisfactory ending, though.
Most importantly, I realized though not listed as a "series" per se, this is in fact at least book four in a set of connected stories. Other major characters clearly had had their own books in the past. The characters are connected by the Camden family - cousins link these books together. From what I can tell series order:
My False Heart
Beauty Like the Night
No True Gentleman
The Devil You Know
Wicked All Day
loved how two characters from previous books come together in this book. enjoyed finally having a story for bentley since he has been a side character in some many of the previous books.
I enjoyed this book. Very surprise ending for me. There are alot of characters in this book and if you have read her previous books then you can follow their roles and relationship better. I would recommend reading Beauty like the night, A women of virture and No true gentleman-they are good books and give you some insight into Bentley's manner. Enjoy!!
