Classic, originally written for his newspaper columns 1881-1906. Sardonic, biting, written by a reporter who saw a lot of difficult events. Ambrose Bierce is a noted forerunner to today's reporters.

This iconoclastic little book is made up of the best items that Bierce the newspaperman wrote between 1881 and 1906. Like Bierce himself the book is irreverent, bitter, and clever. Like him, for it came from the depths of him despite its light tone, it will shock those who think that life is, or can be, beautiful.
