Dewey was a rescue kitten who was found in the Spencer Public Library book drop. The fact that he survived that freezing cold night in January was a miracle. Soon enough the citizens of Spencer, Iowa would learn just what a fantastic cat Dewey was.

Dewey Readmore Books was a cat who behaved like no other. He loved people. He loved making his rounds in the Spencer Public Library and he took his job seriously. He touched each person he spent time with. He brought a smile to the patrons for nearly 20 years.

In my opinion, Dewey was a little on the dry side. It was a good story about a cat who touched people's lives, but I didn't really connect with the story. I certainly laughed out loud a few times (earning scowls from my husband). I finished Marley & Me before I started this book. It's a good possibility that Marley & Me is just a hard act to follow.

Overall, Dewey was a good read, but something I could have lived without reading.

Discarded cat - is loved and exceptional - a LIBRARY cat.

Pretty cute book. A worthwhile read - surprising to me. Especially if you like cats you'll love it. The cover is beautiful as you can see. Your library probably has a copy - check it out. If you love it, you can buy a copy or wait eons for a copy from PBS. It's VERY wanted.

I am not sure what i had expected, after all, the book is about a cat in a library, but i just felt like the author was looking for things to 'pad' the book - it was okay, but not a great read. i guess i'm more of a dog person! a sweet story about a small farming town and the struggles and sense of family. Dewey seemed like a very sweet kitty.

Good read! I cried and cried at the end, even though I knew what was going to happen. It was a good book, in the fact that it made you care about Dewey and his people who loved him. I liked the pictures of Dewey at the beginning of each chapter, too. The picture of Dewey on the front cover of the book is a really neat one.
