This is a fairly good book, but my child was put off by something: they follow the life of a dinosaur by giving it a name. Then they kill it off in a flood. Now, we know it's going to die. But the set up was pretty clumsy. After that we continue to follow the dinosaur as it becomes a fossil and ends up, happily, apparently, in a bone museum. Other than that the book has good drawings, good detail, and lots of information. But if naming an animal makes it harder for your child to deal with its death, keep that in mind here.
The book also has fun tabs for flipping thru the book. All in all, a good book for dino lovers.
