Looks like Nook is going down fast. I bought the new Nook HD+ a couple of months ago. After I rooted it and got everything setup I realized I rarely ever purchase or read Nook books. I use it mainly for Vudu, Netflix, War2 Victory and the Kindle App.  I've been considering re-selling it an just buying a tablet.

I never did get the Nook for PC app downloaded to move my Nook books into Calibre. Anyone know a workaround?

Actually, this means they are moving it into the new Windows format. Windows 8? The one no one likes? Although it is always good to back up your books.

Nancy, I don't have the Nook for PC app installed on my computer either and I have no problem getting my Nook books into Calibre.  I download them to my computer and then can add them to Calibre with no problem.  I do have the plugins installed to strip the DRM from them.

Otherwise, I'm sure you can read them in Adobe Digital Editons.  That's the only other program I have on my computer to read ebooks from.  Not that I read ebooks on my computer anymore.

I did a test download and got one of my Nook books into my download file. It won't open up in ADE without a code. I tried my email and credit card but that didn't work. Regardless, as long as I have them in the download file, then I can put the Calibre plug ins in place from there, right? I don't anticipate buying any more from B&N so as long as I get my stuff downloaded to the PC, I'm ok , right?

Yes, that should work Nancy.  I just download the book and then add it to Calibre.  I never try and open it in ADE at all.

You have to configure the Plugin in Calibre correctly and then it should import just fine.

Once you have it downloaded to your PC and into Calibre you should be good.  Just don't forget to back it up.

I've been using Calibre for a couple years now, it works perfectly with Nook and Kindle books.

I've also been using SugarSnyc to back up my Calbire library, it works wonderfully and I can access remotely on my iPad or any of our PC's.  I think you get a couple gigs for free, I upgraded to a paid account for a year because I had a computer failure and needed the storage space in a hurry plus they offered it to me for half price.  But I am very pleased with the ease of use.  Drop box is also very easy, and offers free space.

I have Sugar Sync too and it's great.
