This was good book and had a lot of info about how dog shows work. The stories regarding breeding were a little tough to read. The writers tell a good story and i thought this book was pretty unique - I didn't see a lot of other books on this topic. If you love dogs (purebreed or mixed) - it's definitely worth reading. It's very well written.
a book following mimi einstein and her allstar kennels bullmastiffs through dog shows, with a look at other aspects of big time akc dog shows as well. i found this book extremely disturbing, but i suppose that's no big surprise. i don't have much patience for the akc and all the bad behavior it spawns. i don't have much patience for breeders who do cool things like breed multiple dogs with torn cruciates, including a dog who couldn't be finished because he blew his knee and couldn't be rehabbed enough for the show ring. but he was rehabbed enough to breed, i guess. blech.
As a novice in the dog show game, I found this book to be very entertaining and enlightening. It's a great book for anyone interested in purebred dogs and the people involved in the sport of purebred dogs.
