Donald Symons (born 1942) is an American anthropologist who is best known as one of the founders of evolutionary psychology, and for pioneering the study of human sexuality from an evolutionary perspective. His 1979 book, The Evolution of Human Sexuality, is considered by many evolutionary psychologists to be one of the classics in the field and was instrumental in helping to launch an evolutionary perspective on human behavior. His most recent work, with Catherine Salmon, is Warrior Lovers, an evolutionary analysis of slash fiction.

He is presently Professor Emeritus in the Department of Anthropology at the University of California, Santa Barbara.[1]
