Judith McNaught was not her best with this one. Aside from the fact that I devoured this in one sitting without thinking, I found myself outwardly cringing. The roomie had already read this one and we got a kick out of how bad it actually was. We both enjoy Judith McNaught tremendously, but this is the worse book of hers that we've read. It was cheesy, overly dramatic, completely unbelievable, and just plain silly.

This has always been one of my favorite McNaughts. Nick and Lauren are absolutely magic together. I especially enjoyed the interaction of the other characters such as Jim and Mary, too.

Not as engaging as some of McNaught's other contemporary books, somewhat dated, and her characters lack their normal color and depth, but an engaging story and quick read.

Lauren Danner is sent to spy on Global Industries by a the owner of a competitor, who is a relative of hers to whom she owes her job.

She falls for the owner of Global - Nick Sinclair. She finds herself trapped in a web of deceit - her secret could destroy his fragile trust - and the promise of a life with Nick.

Judith McNaught never disappoints! I absolutely adored this story. The hero was a bit frustrating at times; however, there were so many LOL moments in this book. Love books that gives me a good laugh! ^.^ I was a bit crushed to see the story was over so soon!

This is the story of Lauren Danner, a woman who is talked into industrial spying by her family's who never gets the high bid on their building projects. As soon as she gets hired, she goes off for a weekend of fun with Nick Sinclair, a man she met the night before. After starting her new job a few weeks later, she finds that Nick is the president of the company she is spying on.

Lauren is too naive for my taste. Nick could be the poster boy for sexual harrassment in the workplace. I'm sure this book was popular when it was published in 1984, but times have changed and this book feels dated. It's not one of McNaught's best.

This book did it for me. I know it was outdated and definitely showed it age with some political incorrectness in sexual harassment in the office place, but I loved the story. I thought Nick was arrogant and a user and pulled one over on Lauren. He lead her to believe he was really into her and more than a one night stand. Since she was so innocent she didn't realize what a rake he was, but once she did she was strong and lead him on a merry chase. I liked how he try to make her jealous, yet she didn't cave until he fell hard. I love these kind of stories!!
