Unlike every other Faerie Tale Romance by Linda Jones that I've read, it took me several weeks of reading the first few chapters to really get into this book. It had a slow start, but once I got past the boring introduction, it got much better.

Rachel Sommerville is the beautiful 'Rapunzel' who's been trapped since childhood in an ivory tower waiting for her prince to rescue her. Then along comes Roland Connor, a con man who wants revenge against Rachel's betrothed. His plan is to seduce the sweet virgin and send her to her marriage bed with some very bold ideas of what goes on between a woman and her husband.

Instead, he falls in love with her and spends half the book trying to figure out ways to make her his own...all during a terrible serial murder spree that almost claims Rachel's life.

This was not my favorite Linda (Winstead) Jones book, but it made for a good, quick read on a cold winter night! Unlike in many other romance novels, I liked the murder mystery plot; it's normally very easy to guess who the villain is and why, but LWJ had me guessing a bit with a little misdirection. I prefer her more recent fantasy romances, but this was engaging enough as a stop-gap until her next release!
