The Handbook contains a detailed and clear description of Dr Montessori's didactic materials and their use. These learning tools are the original 'teaching machines' for young children. Designed to develop and refine the child's visual, auditory and tactile perceptions, they contain within their structure controls of possible error. The child educates himself. Intelligence is stimulated as increasing powers of observation, recognition, judgment and classification are developed.
