My first book, 'Ten Dragon Tails' was based on folktales and myths. The stories transported readers from ancient Atlantis to Aztec temples, from the Great Wall of China to dark, gloomy Russian forests, beyond the legends to the real encounters between people and dragons. Far from being satisfied, I was left with still-unexplained dragon concepts. I wanted to know where the 'fire-breathing dragon' legend came from - and why did Vikings carve dragons on their longships?
