Book Reviews of Dreamfever (Fever, Bk 4)

This book is off the chain!! the series is amazing!
you have no clue what you're missing out on. even if you don't like this genre, i'll garuntee you'll love it!

it's a great book to escape into, yet you walk away w/ things for your mind to chew on.
it's amazing and a MUST READ! don't wish for it...many wont post it. Go out and by it! NOW (however, you need to read the FIRST book in the series first, which is Darkfever. These are NOT stand alone novels and will not make sense w/o them. also, from her highlander series, you have cross over characters and more info into the Fever world)

Moning's books have layers, are complex, somewhat heavy and well-researched books! you will love her style, skill, and wit!

also, her books are in audio format! Phil G does the highlander series and the 4th book in the Fever series (with Natalie). His voice is orgasmic!

Just finished the book and all I can say is "WOW!" I loved it - I am already having withdrawls for the next one - jeez, talk about suspense! Great book, great series, great author. I love how she ties in the Highlander series into this one and love how you think you know what is going to happen next, only to have the rug ripped out from under you. Lots more revelations in this book as well as some new secrets to desire answers for.

If you haven't read this series, start now! You don't need to read the Highlander series first but it might help with some of the questions about those characters from these books (i.e. mentions Adam and the Keltar clan). However, you must read the Fever series in order to fully understand.

So, when is the next one coming out? Seriously, I want to know...

This is the fourth book in the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning. There are five books planned for this series and the fifth book "Shadowfever" is scheduled to release in January of 2011. Much to my dismay I am finally caught up in this series and am stuck with everyone else dealing with the absolutely horrible cliffhanger that happened at the end of this book. This was the best book of the series so far (I know I keep saying that for each additional book, but it is true).

This book starts up right where Faefever left off. Mac is being tortured by the Dark Unseelie Princes and has been turned into a Beast enslaved by the sexual urges the Unseelie Princes project. With Mac out of her mind Dani narrates the beginning of this book. Of course, Mac (kind of) bounces back (was there ever any doubt that she would?). What she has become after the torture she has endured is something different than what she was. This book is about vengeance and Mac, with Dani at her side, will personally try to annihilate all of the Unseelie from Dublin.

This was an absolutely awesome book. So much happens and Mac changes so much as a character. The flowery Mac is replaced by a Mac who is vengeance personified. That is not to say "old Mac" is gone, it is just that she is muted.

If Faefever dealt more with V'lane; than this book is more about Barron. We learn more about him in this book than in any other book so far. We still don't learn enough and I still wasn't satisfied with what we do learn...but I guess I will have to be patient. We also learn more about Mac's Seelie Seer powers and the additional powers that she is developing. A lot is learned about the the history of the Fae and how their world works too.

There is a ton of action in this book; in fact it is relentless. There were times I just wished Mac had a second where someone wasn't trying to kill her. In fact at times the relentless action got a little monotonous; but overall I still enjoyed it. This is definitely a straight urban fantasy; not much romance at all. Moning's writing style is engaging, yet pretty average. The plot is well done but not spectacular. The areas where Moning really shines are characterization and world-building.

Again there is a huge cliffhanger. I could not believe it, even given all the previous cliffhangers, this one left me with my mouth hanging open and frantically trying to find the rest of the pages in the book. Only there weren't any. So now I am stuck with the rest of the Fever fans waiting desperately for Shadowfever... I am really not a fan of authors torturing their readers, I think if you are a skilled enough writer you can complete the novel with decent closure and still have people desperate to read your next book. I think ending books with cliffhangers is more like forcing people to read the next book and sells you a bit short as a writer; wouldn't you rather have people read your books because they love your writing?

Overall an excellent addition to this series. I love what Moning is doing with Mac's character and love how we are finally getting to explore the Fae world. I can't wait for Shadowfever to be released. Moning's strong point is definitely characterization and world-building. Readers should be ware though, this book has another horrible cliffhanger ending.

This is one of the best books of the series. Mac is really growing as a heroine, and the action was fast-paced and suspenseful. And what an ending! The cliffhanger keeps you guessing long after you finish the book.

I waited a year for this book and just finally got it 2 days ago! Couldn't put it down, and like everyone else, I felt like I was in an Alfred Hitchcock movie...you know how you are always left hanging?? Frustrating, but yes, gives me so much to chew on! Can't wait for the next one..I love Karen Moning's books, have read the entire Highlander series and loved everyone, I love how they are entertwined with the characters from the Fever series! Looking forward to reading more!

This Fever Series is the most fascinating, consuming, FRUSTRATING thing I have ever read. I could not stop following this series now even if I wanted to. Once again, the book picks up after the cliff-hanger at the end of FaeFever. Mac has been turned Pryia by the Unseelie Princes and Dublin is a mess. I won't give any more details because I don't want to spoil it for other readers.

Once again, Karen Moning gives us more questions than answers. I mean, can we PLEASE be able to identify what Barrons is??? It's been 4 books already. And once again, we come to an ending that resolves nothing and leaves us on ANOTHER cliff-hanger (literally). I am pleased to see that Mac is developing into a much stronger character than the "Pretty in Pink" barbie she was at the beginning of the series.

All in all, I give the book 4 stars because we did get a closer look at some of the other characters like Dani, Ryoden, Jayne, and the other sidhe-seer. We still don't know what makes them who they are, but its more than we knew before. All I can say is that Shadowfever BETTER answer EVERY POSSIBLE QUESTION...and it better make sense. Every character that we have read about since the first book needs to have closure...not just Mac and Barrons.

REally good. I didn't like the begining much, but I couldn't stop reading it. The Plot and the characters get more complex. I will hate waiting 1 year for the final book in the series Shadowfever. Read this series in order it will make no sense otherwise. I also recommend reading her Highlander romance series as some of the minor characters are cross overs and will make more sense to the plot line. This series is much more complex than her highlander series.

This book took off on fire and I couldn't put it down...WOW...is all I can say! I have been wishing for more and I got it! I wish it could have been delievered in a little different package but, there it was. Now This book ends in a total cliff hanger that left me without breath. I am so glad that the final book is out and I don't have to wait. Mac is reborn again and she is more kick ass than ever. She keeps under estimating herself and rising above the challanges she faces. With two super hot hotties obviously pineing for her I hope she can find HEA in the next intallment!

I enjoyed this book so much I just hate that she leaves u hanging on the edge at the very end! I can not wait till i can read the last book. I think the outcome is gonna be on my mind till i get my hands on the book! LOL

Dreamfever is exciting and well written,(if you've read the other 3 books) but can we talk about that ending??? Who do you think died??? I dread having to wait a year or MORE to find out the answer to the best cliff hanging ending Moning's ever written. This is a very compelling and FRUSTRATING series. Moning has created an incredible world. We are given so many hints, but no real answers, and this is book 4! Mac's transformation from clueless southern belle to tough leather clad fighter who's trying to save the world rocks, but we still don't know what Barrons is! I feel like I can't even decide whether or not I like it until I have the chance to read book 5 and see how it all will fit together. If you like your books to wrap up neatly at the end, this is not the read for you. I miss "hearing" parts of the story from other points of view, although Moning makes it very clear in her afterward that it's an intentional choice on her part.

Have enjoyed all of this series. Was over too quick,and have a long wait for the next book.

LOVED the book. It was great, couldn't put it down. The whole Fever series has been great, cannot wait until the next book comes out!!!
