First book in a trilogy dealing with a female warrior. Really great fantasy read.

First rate historical fiction. The publisher put the book in the category of "fantasy". I feel that does not give full credit to the author's accomplishment. By all means read the other three (Dreaming the Bull, Hound, & Serpent Spear). The story, as we know, is a tragedy; but it is hugely compelling.

An excellent Novel of Boudica, The Warrior Queen of England.

This is book one out of four in the Boudica series. These four books are the continuous story of Boudica and her life of love, family, friendship, work, seasons, oppression, politics, clashing of cultures, war, envy, strife, guilt and the roller coaster that is life. The novels are deeply seated in well-researched history and accurate portrayals of the Celtic tribal way of life, the Celtic tribes as a colony of Rome and Rome's desperate attempt to not only hold onto its colony but subdue its population. The historical information related to both the tribal life and the life of a Roman soldier are very accurate. The battle narratives are overall historically accurate, except for omitting the Celtic tribes use of chariots. Overall, if you enjoy historical fiction novels that are woven around the true story of an historical figure, you will love this series.

This series really got me into historical fiction and Roman Britain, and the desire to write my own fantastic story someday. Anyway, the story starts with a young girl trying to find her way in the tribe and the world. She continually proves her worth as a leader and warrior. The magical world of the dreamers and action packed battles will keep you wanting for more. Good thing there's four books!
