Every once in a while, I hunger for a historical romance. I love reading the history and how the people dressed and lived. Laurel McKee does a wonderful job of painting the turmoil of the times as well as staying true to her characters. Did I fall in love with them? No, but I respected their choices and I really wanted them to find their happy ending. I am one of those people who not only love strong Alpha males, but I want my heroine to be strong too - not some simpy girl. Anna is a strong character, but she's very likeable - personable. I really enjoyed this novel, and although it is the second in the series, it reads as a stand alone. Not to say you won't want to rush out and get the first in the series after you read this one!!

Loved loved loved this book! It is my first Laurel McKee book and it will not be my last. One of my favorite scenes was when the hero was attacked by a couple of guys in front of the heroine. Normally in romance novels the heroine stands to the side and watches the fight praying the hero doesn't get hurt(and even worse does something stupid to distract the hero). Well not this heroine. She reacts without hesitation when the man she loves is in danger. The same way we all would react if it was our man in danger! She unleashes hell! Nobody messes with her man! I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.

Second book in a trilogy. Anna and Conlan cannot stay away from each other, but he is in the fight for Ireland and there is danger everywhere. It ends rather abruptly, but at least the danger did not drag out interminably. Another good love story. The secondary characters are well explored. I will definitely read the third in the series.
