There is a lesson to learn for this book Dulcie lies or steals to make her magic recipe. She does tell fibs when other fairies ask her what she is doing and she does steal the ingredients and takes advantage of other fairies' hard work. Yet it's a story about realizing that hard work and the sacrifice of others and the appreciation everyone deserves for their part, is important One lesson is that sharing responsibility doesn't make you weak it makes you kind and smart. The second and most important is that you should never be too busy to make a friend. There is always someone to share what you are experiencing with.
Unfortunately one lesson was not fully explored which is that of lying which Dulcie does repeatedly. It would have been wonderful to have that recognized and Dulcie admonished.
