Just an FYI... you can get a free e-reader from Barnes and Noble at http://www.barnesandnoble.com/ebooks/index.asp?r=1
So, if you have a iPhone, iTouch, Blackberry, Mac/PC, it will work. You also get 6 books (classics and a dictionary) for free. I would do it if I had a iTouch. "sigh" :) |

I have a Kindle which I love and I can highly recommend it. There is a lot of information about the various e-readers at the Mobil Read forums (http://www.mobileread.com/forums/) |

Also, if you have an iTouch or iPhone you can download the Free Kindle App. I have both the Kindle App and the new e-reader from Barnes and Noble. Plus...when you do get one, whichever one you get...make sure you check out Amazon for some really great FREE ebooks..I've already downloaded a bunch (some paranormal romances too) |

I have a Sony, which I love. You manage your library on your computer, almost exactly like you do your iPod library. You can also download pdf and Word docs, as well as music and photos. You can also add extra storage with an SD drive. |

I LOVE my Sony Reader too! I used to read my ebooks on a Sony handheld, kind of like a Palm Pilot, but, it was so small, it really wasn't my favorite way to read books. In order to read the text, the font had to be a decent size, so I found myself constantly "flipping pages." I don't think I'd like to read on an IPhone for the same reason. |

As an iPhone user, I agree it has a lot of great features, but I can't say I'd recommend it for reading a book. I have a few loaded and have played around with the idea. It will work in a pinch, but the screen is too small for me. I'm having to constantly "turn the page", so I can't disconnect my mind from manipulating the technology long enough to get lost in the story of a real book. I read too fast and too much to justify buying a Kindle (400+ books per year; I'd go broke!). But if I were going to use an electronic reader, I'd want one more book-size like the Kindle. |
