It looks like B&N has started an E-Reader price war by lowering their price for the Nook to $199.  Amazon promptly followed suit and is now selling the Kindle for $189.  I'm waiting to see what Sony does, then I may order one.  My library was given 4 Sony E-readers by the Friends of the Library and I have one on hold to try out.  I don't want a proprietary e-reader since my library has lots of e-books, but they can't be read on the proprietary e-readers.

Barnes & Noble just came out with another ereader that's only $149.  Not sure how that relates to the Nook.

If you don't mind refurbished, watch Woot.com.  They had the Sony Touch last week for $149.

I love my sony touch. which was 149 on several sites last week, haven't looked this week.

I didn't really want wi-fi, I have enough issues buying books when I have a computer! I don't need access when I'm far from home too.

I also really wanted to be able to use SD cards for memory! Those are my reasons for purchasing the sony touch!

I didn't want WiFi either, too tempting to buy stuff and not shop around for the best price.  Plus, I have a backup of all my ebooks on my computer and then I just put them on a flash drive for extra backup.  I have all 180 of my ebooks on my Sony pocket edition with tons of room for more books.

Its a Nook too.  The cheaper one just has WiFi.  The one for $199 has 3G and WiFi both.

It's the Nook with wi-fi downloads only.  I guess that means you can't upload books from your computer.  That makes it pretty useless in my mind.

you can't transfer to the cheaper nook from the computer? I thought the 3G was for the instant downloads..

Check out Borders (or Borders.com); the Libre eBook Reader Pro is available on 7/20, for $119. You can download books from your computer to the reader.

Borders will also have the Kobo or whatever it is shortly, I think for $150 or so.

If the Kindle or the Sony Touch goes to 99 for Christmas, I'm buying one!
