Earl Lind (a.k.a. Ralph Werther and Jennie June) was one of the earliest intersexed individuals to publish their own autobiography in the United States. Lesbian and Gay Studies at Yale
Earl Lind was born in 1874 in Connecticut. He was born in a Puritan family.
By 1895 he met other androgynes in New York City, in a society called Cercle Hermaphroditos, whose aim was "to unite for defense against the world’s bitter persecution."
He believed that he could 'diagnose a man sexually simply by hearing him sing', and he wanted to be an opera soprano.
