The earlier you can get your name in the queue the better chances you have of getting a book.  My question is how are people finding out when the new books are coming out.  There is a book coming out on one of my favorite authors sometimes in September.  I found out about it a couple of weeks ago and already there were 50 names on the waiting list!  How are people finding out this stuff early so they can get the valued number one spot?

Well, I give the info to my sister and she does all the leg work for me...because I didn't have anything on my wish list LOL.   I was in the same boat as you, but she said go to the author sites and find out what is coming up....then if you go to amazon you can get the ISBN.   There is member who posts regularly and has mentioned she uses fantastic fiction...I think that is the name.  I found one but not too many listings.  That is all I have to offer.....sorry.

There are people that are old pros so I am sure they will add some additional info.

There are a couple of ways to do that. When you look up an author's book, click on that author's name(under the title). It will show all the author's books and the year they were published (or will be published).  If the titles are green, those books are posted now, if they're red, they are not posted yet. Look for the latest  book and click on that one, it will show the date it will appear in the bookstores. Then if interested you can click on the wish list button.

Another way, is to look on amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com, borders.com. Of course, you will find the info on your favorite author's website.

Hope this helps.

Hi Kay,

Another member shared this website with me.....you can find all works done by an author as well as the books yet to be released.  I'm #1 on the WL for the next Nicholas Sparks book.....I learned about it on this site:

www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/

www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/

That's the UK site ... I don't know if they list USA ISBNs or not ... but you are not too likely to get the book by wish listing a UK ISBN here. Although, its not impossible ... sometimes members here get books when they travel or order from out of the country.

The US site is www.fantasticfiction.com  (and they list all the US ISBNs as well as the UK ISBNs.)

Another way to find forthcoming books is to go to your favorite author's website, they will often have info about their new books.

Thanks Sara for posting that!!!  The only one that was shared with me was the UK site.  I just checked it and the book I referred to had both the UK and US ISBN listed, so I lucked out on that one.....

Some of the genre forums have a red sticky of upcoming books.  Of course, by the time they get on that list, they have a bunch of wishers.  But I'd rather be 15 than 50.

I usually look at Barnes & Noble, Borders, etc., for upcoming books.  I never get there early enough, but closer to the beginning of the line than the end!
