When I first found this book on paperback swap, I was listening to a tape set about Captain Cook's adventurs (also came from this site). This site proves that you can find hidden wonders in little-known authors if you get a bunch of readers together. The author masterfully weaves pre-1914 with the modern. It is like finding a time capsule and discovering that it is a small, small world even in its remotest parts.
