I am always seeing posts where someone has a WL book on their shelf.  How do you know that without going through the tens of thousands of wishlists?  I look at people's individual wishlists sometimes and I have looked at the Club Memers Wish List.  But it would literally take days to know what Is WL'd and what isn't.

I ask this because I am always on the lookout for books at yard sales and UBS.  I just never know what books are demand and what books are alrady listed multiple times.

Daphne, if you're wondering whether a specific book is wishlisted you can search for the book, then click on the title.  The book information page tells you if there are people wishing for the book.

A quicker way is to search using "wishlisted books only" mode. But be careful, because the books that come up may not be the same edition or format.

I was asking because I posted on a thread in the Book Bazaar.  It was asking what books we were looking for.  I listed several that I am interested in, never thinking that any of them were wishlist books.  I promptly had my hand slapped.

Yep, if you type in the ISBN of the book and then click on title and look at the book details, it will tell if it's wishlisted and how many are wishing. If it's available in the system there will be an 'order this book' button or an option to add it to your reminder list. If you add it to your reminder list, then you can see how many copies of that book are already listed in the system.

I usually add 50+ books at the time.  I don't want to spend the extra time checking each ISBN to see if they are WLed.  If they are, I get a notification pretty quickly about them.

I keep books I haven't read on hold on my Bookshelf and the great big red W or green WA shows up if someone has one of my books wishlisted.  It helps me decide what to read next.  Once I am done with the book, all I have to do is to change it from on hold to posted.

I don't even use my TBR list anymore.  I have gradually moved them all over to my Bookshelf which is a lot easier for me.

Of course this isn't going to help you if you are out & about looking for books, only with the ones you already have at home.
