If you like hard Sci-Fi with good science Benford is one of my favorites. This book is a first contact, end of the world scenario and I like that too. It's amazing what can happen when you stick with textbook science rather than fantasy. Although the distinction between textbooks and fantasies is a slim one.

Another Benford end of the world story. I enjoyed Shiva Descending more as it seemed more plausible to me.
