Edward Lawrence (1878-1949) was an English writer who emigrated to the United States in 1902. Lawrence was born in Windsor, England and attended Eton from 1890-94 and Oxford University 1895-1899, where he read classics. After moving to New York in 1902 he lived with a great aunt as he wrote his magnum opus "In Hope, We Find This Nation", a five volume work that was issued by the publisher, Collier, in 5 installments 1908, 1912, 1924, 1928, and 1946. He died in 1949 from a suspected heart attack.
