I've had a book requested for two years. I was excited to get an email 3 hours ago saying it's available. I hit the link in the email but it just takes me to my account - there is no info in my account area about this book AT ALL, and it has disappeared from my wish list. Anybody know why? I really want this book! I don't want to go to the back of the line, so to speak, and wsh list it again as I've already waited two years. Thanks!

There is a chance that the offer timed out. When did the email get sent to you? If you do not respond to the email within 48 hours , the exclusive hold will expire, and the book will be removed from your Wish List.  It will be moved to your Reminder List, and you will be able to "convert" it back to a Wish List item from there.

You can look in your transaction Archive for more information. Click on MY ACCOUNT and the Transaction Archive is right below the words MY ACCOUNT. Find the title and then go to the far right and click on the Request Details for more information.  If you did not get the 48 wait time then notify the PBS team at contact me at the bottom of the page and tell them. There have been a few issues with notifications the past few days. If you did have the 48 hours then you will have to go to the back of the line.

You may want to consider using the Auto Request for books that you have been waiting that long for and that you really want.

  Hope that this helps.

Was it on Autorequest?  If so it could have been accepted, printed and marked mailed right away.  Did you check your enroute to me tab?  Also do you have RCS?  If the book was on autorequest and you had RCS it could have been turned down.  If you were the only Wisher then I think it would take it off your WL until that copy was ordered.

I've had this happen to me too, when a book was on auto-request. I think what is happening is that peole are getting a book from the front page and that is short-circuiting the wish list process. For example, I was able to request the book "Twilight" from the front page when there is a wait of over 800 people ahead of me. Once the request had gone through I cancled because the short-cut is not fair to the 800+ people ahead of me.

This loop hole needs to be fixed ASAP.

As Margaret suggested, I checked my transaction archive. I answered the requst email 3 hours after it was sent, but I was sent the email 53 hours after the request was made, so the transaction was canceled. This doesn't answer WHY I got the email so late, but I've notified PBS. Thank you all for your advice. (Incidentally, it wasn't on autorequest. I suspect something happened with the email system)

Elizabeth: the version of Twilight that you ordered must not have been WL. In fact there was a discussion about that same book being posted into the system in a couple of version and people wondering why there were so many on WL for one and no one ordering the one that was possted.  As soon as a WL book is posted it's offered to the first person online. It is never available for the general PBS population to order. It will appear on the Books Posted Today lists.

Karin: you might be able to get put back into the top spot on the WL if you contact PBS.  If the email got messed up because their power outage then they might do that.
