Some highlights here and there for one reason ... the author was a journalist AND was assigned to teach English to non-speakers yet I found numerous glaring errors that drove me crazy! Also, she worked in Philly (where I have been a teacher for almost 10 years), and couldn't hack being a teacher for 1 year! Her school is down the street from where I've been teaching for the past 5 years! Christina got in on an emergency cert, which allows non-educational degreed people to teach while going to school for their M.Ed. Covering educational issues in a newspaper is one thing because the administration will only allow you to see what it wants you to see, which is the positive stuff. But the inside look as to what actually happens is, unfortunately, true today.
