This book blew me away! It was hard to get into at first, but the careful research, fascinating characters, unique setting, strong faith, and tense, forward-moving plot woven throughout won me over. Once I got a few chapters in, it was hard to put down. Immerse yourself in Constantinople's rich culture and see for yourself!

This is an intriguing historical novel about the difficult times during 338 & beyond for Christians both inside & outside the Roman empire. If you like good historical fiction & want to know more about the early Christian Church, this is an excellent read. Bunn does all his own research so his writing makes you feel like you are there. I found it very educational but also very adventurous. A really good read.
