Casey has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California and an M.A. in Educational Communication and Technology from New York University.
Casey co-founded cmdLabs with Christopher Daywalt and Terrance Maguire. In August 2010 the company was bought by The Newberry Group, Casey and his co-founders will operate cmdLabs as a wholly owned subsidiary. He has authored a number of books in the field of digital forensics including Digital evidence and computer crime and Handbook of computer crime investigation: forensic tools and technology. In 2006 Casey was an expert witness for the Oireachtas select committee investigation into Brian Curtin.
Casey is editor in chief of the journal Digital Investigation: The International Journal of Digital Forensics and Incident Response.
