I like some contemporary, but mostly regency, historical, victorian. Anybody have any suggestions? Do you have any erotica on your shelf?
I would love it if there are a lot of good erotic historical authors but there arent. At least in comparison to contemps and paranormals. You're gonna have to lower standards to read historical ebooks.
My favorite erotic historical authors are Sylvia Day, Robin Schone, and Liza Valdez. I have also read the following:
Jess Michaels -- aka Jenna Petersen. I liked the first novella she did in the Secrets anthology set in Egypt but havent liked anything she has written since. Smooth writing style.
Leda Swann -- i dont find her sexy.
Silvia Violet -- she actually has more plot than most ebook historical authors
Dawn Ryder -- writes about Victorican swingers. Eh.
Sharon Page -- writes very hot sex scenes. Has been improving
Emma Wildes -- dont quite understand the popularity. No historical atmosphere. Some interesting character dynamics tho
Julia Templeton -- again popular but if she wasnt writing in this genre, I would never have read her. Also, is not as raunchy as you would expect.
I don't generally read a lot of historical romances, but I recently read a few that I liked:
The Price of Desire by Leda Swann
Everything Forbidden by Jess Michaels and
The Accidental Countess by Melissa Schroeder
I forgot to add...
over a year ago I read a Thea Devine, Beyond Desire which is Historical. It was erotic, with a sort of a mystery storyline. It was very good. I didn't pick up more of her stuff, because I'm not all that wild about Historicals.
Here are my favorites so far: (all contemporary)
Forbidden Pleasure - Lora Leigh - 1 woman with 2 men but has a storyline and was pretty hot(the men are with her and not doing each other and it seems to be a permanent menage by the end of the book
Seal series by Lora Leigh - not sure if these are erotica but I classify 'dangerous games' in that category just for the content! I"m still reading the others and her Nauti series so can't comment on those yet.
Lyric's Cop, Cady's Cowboy, and Calista's Men all by Jory Strong and her Crime Tells series. wish she'd continue in this series because it's good IMO! Lyric's Cop has probably the more alpha male along with one of the guys in Calista's Men but the woman likes the 'rough games' so they're a good couple. the storyline in that one is they're trying to find who kidnapped a bunch of weenie dogs and one of the dogs belonged to the guy's grandmother. Cady's Cowboy has a visiting Texas sheriff and Cady is trying to track down who drugged these racehorses to clear his friend..he's probably the more loving/playful next to the other brother in Calista's Men. Calista's Men is another menage where twin brothers share their women but one is ready to settle down with just one woman for both of them. one brother is very dominant and Calista is the sister of the guy in Lyric's Cop. This story I thought was very tastefully done but it is a permanent threesome with both guys doing the woman individually and together.
Satisfaction Guaranteed and Wild, Wild West - Charlene Teglia - 3 stories in each anthology that have characters that sort of tie together. light bondage more playful than a lot I've read
Call Me - Lena Matthews - 1st book in her Joker's Wild series. it only got 3 stars on romantic times but I liked it. the couple had been friends for 5 years and finally come together sexually but there's still a storyline. I was laughing at parts. she likes to invent stuff and they don't always work out and she modifies a vibrating butt plug to stimulate the prostate and wants the guy to try it out and he's like 'no way in hell if it messes up you can't fix my ass' kind of attitude.
Midnight Man,Midnight Run, Midnight Angel, Dangerous Lover, Port of Paradise, Woman on the Run - Lisa Marie Rice. I liked these though woman on the run wasn't my favorite storyline. all the men are sorta on the rough side and 'f' word used a lot. you wont get much 'loving gentle' sex in these but they have a storyline of sorts and I like them a lot. the 3 midnight books overlap in time..actually the 2nd book starts first but she put it 2nd for whatever reason. it's my least favorite character-wise but boy oh boy is it pretty hot! in midnight angel the woman is blind but it was 'sweeter' in a way because the guy is a big ugly ex-seal who loves the harp she plays and tries to be so gentle with her. the first has the main character and introduces the guy in the 2nd book.
White Hot Holidays - 3 anthologies from ellora's cave with a bunch of short stories of all different genres. some I liked better than others..think it w as vol 2 or vol 3 I liked best so far but still reading them.
For Victorian, I recommend Passion by Lisa Valdez. Sure hope Patience eventually comes out!
I also recommend anything by Sylvia Day, especially Passion for the Game. Also, Outlaw by Susan Johnson.
Robin Schone--The Lover, Gabriel's Woman, The Lady's Tutor.
And if you're interested, check out the link to my short story (below). Elena is my pen name since I don't want people googling me. Pretty erotic, I think (at least that's what people--mostly men) have told me.
