Ok so I admit I enjoy my smut BUT it must have a good storyline and I prefer the ones that make me snicker throughout-I guess more chick lit crossed with steaminess.

My new FAVE author is Erin McCarthy. I read FLAT OUT SEXY recently (instant keeper) and cannot wait till the next one. Great characters, HOT scenes and just really well told stories. I found myself snickering throughout at the antics of the characters. Itw as told from both amle and femlae perspective and still kept the realism for the male perspective. HIGHLY reccomended!

I didnt realize at first that she wrote the Vegas Vamp series too. This isnt paranormal but its a GREAT read if you can get your hands on it. Half.com has it for pretty cheap-4 bucks + shipping instead of $14.00

I enjoyed THE WOLF'S HEART by Jenna Leigh also-laugh out loud funny and a HOT HOT alpha male. That one is paranormal.

Does anyone else have any suggestions for erotica that made them grin?

I have all Erin McCarthy's books on my keeper shelf. Glad to hear FLAT OUT SEXY is just as good as her others. I'm not too far up on the WL for it. I also really enjoy Sasha White's books. All I've read so far have been very entertaining. A lot of HOT, along with great story lines too.

The author I don't care too much for is Alyssa Brooks. Her first book COME AND GET ME was okay, but her last two were horrible!

I second Sasha White's books.  I also love Erin McCarthy as well.  I think Shelly Laurenston's Pack Challenge was hot and a hoot as well.  I will have to keep thinking on the rest.

Oh ok Laurenston I know I wanted to read. Heard hers were funny.

Alyssa brooks' other books werent so great? Good to know. I liked Come and Get me. Hmm Sasha White i read Wicked and liked that one. Have to try the others.

Leann if you like her others you will like this one-more sexual content I think but the same kind of well told story-great characters. I ROLLED at the best friend and her ex husband. Too darn funny.

Hi Jennifer, I'm so glad you brought up this topic - I love hot and funny books!  Here's one of my favorites: Jane and the Sneaky Dom by Hannah Murray  http://www.paperbackswap.com/book/details/9781419952036-Jane+and+the+Sneaky+Dom .   That book had me in stitches.  I'll also second Shelly Laurenston - great stuff.  I haven't read Eric McCarthy except in anthologies, so I'll have to check her full length books.

Shannon McKenna for hot, hot, hot and good story lines.  Really the only crime/mystery/murder and mayhem books I love.  Alpha Males, AMEN.   Beautiful, but very smart and hot women, too.

I actually liked Alyssa Brooks a lot more than Erin McCarthy...but then again, I gave up on McCarthy awhile ago because her characters always bugged me...and I wouldn't consider her an erotica author unless her more recent books have turned it up a notch or two...I didn't find her stories horrible, but I'd only read them if they had them at the library.

Robin L. Rotham has a great funny, HOT book called Alien Overnight . It's erotica and menage and a riot. The dialogue is sharp, the storyline is fun, and the sex is smokin'! lol

I am a huge fan of humor in my romances.  I read mainly erotic romances these days.

Hard as Nails - M.A. Ellis (EC) (containes these 4 short stories:  The Cake Babe,  Love's Ally,  Hallow's Eve Hunk &  Twisted Steel and Sex Appeal )  I laughed so hard in several of these.  I took this to my book club.  (I have a romance/erotic romance monthly book club) and I read half a page out loud to them and everyone was laughing.  (Yes, I can read sex scenes out loud without shame.)

Shelly Laurenston's shifter books are hysterical.

Dakota Cassidy.  She is bordline spicy romance/erotic riomance.   She also has a very distinctive love/hate style.  I would reccomend reading the first few pages in a  bookstore to make certain you fall on the love side.

LuAnn McLane writes some very funny books.  She writes both erotic romance and regular roimance under the same name.  Some are funnier than others.

Dana Marie Bell - she is only in ebook (Samhain) at teh moment - She is a new author and I LOVE her Wallflower books, Wallflower, Sweet Dreams and Cat of a Different Color.  The next one comes out in the spring.

Shannon Stacey's historicals (not the contemporaries - I do not care for her contemporarry voice, but I love her historicals)

1 800 Sex 4 You - Chris Tanglen & Michele Bardsley (EC)  (this is in the lady Jaided's Sexy Smiles book)  Actually the EC Lady Jaided's Virile Vampires, Lady Jaided's Sexy Smiles and Lady Jaided's Paranormal Passions aer all funny collections)

Tequilia Makes Her Clothes Fall Off - Cara North (Tease)

She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy - Cara North (Tease)

Dragon in the System - Cindy Spencer Pape (EC/Cerridwen) ebook only (Book 1)

Djinni and the Geek - Cindy Spencer Pape (EC) ebook only (Book 2)

Call Me by Lena Matthews had a bit of humor/silliness in it along with some steam. 1st in the joker's wild books but the next 2 are different (though still pretty good). wouldn't say any erotic romance i've read has been ROFLMAO funny though but some have been lighter/silly/funny-ish..I like Erin McCarthy's humor though and they're pretty steamy.

I am writing a Historical Romance, (a Regency with a Nautical setting--lots of research and lots of fun) but had another (far more erotic) story drift into my subconscious which begs to be written.  Since this also is the same setting (why waste all that research--besides I've sorta got a thing for Men In Uniform--or out of it--so to speak) I decided to read what was on the market.  I hadn't wandered into the realms of strictly Erotica or Erotic Romance before so I just closed my eyes and picked a couple from Amazon.com.

Hmmmmm...Alas, while reading them that's all I could think of was "can anyone spell sexual addiction?"  Yikes...

It may be that I chose the wrong books, though they did get good reviews, and I know that it's not me (my own personal fantasies storylines are hot but start with a story).

The books I read are:

Master: An Erotic Novel of the Count of Monte Cristo by Collette Gale

Everything Forbidden by Jess Michaels

They were interesting stories and some hot sections, but I've read Romance Novels that have (ahem) moved me more...if y'all get my drift lol.

Nevertheless I would be interested in reading more erotic romance or spicy or even hot romance of the Regency era.  Any recommendations?

Thanks; glad to be a member of this club, seems like great ppl here.

LM

I just finished Honk If You Love Real Men and I really liked Susan Donovan's story (and Lora Leigh's.) Not really LOL funny, but cute funny, and pretty steamy, so I'll be checking out more by this author.

Just thought of another...Tara Janzen's Crazy series is pretty steamy (not quite erotica, but steamier than the typical romance) and are very funny too.

Susan J.,

No, you are right, I don't consider her funny.  At all.  Shannon McKenna, that is.

Erin McCarthy (Mouth to Mouth, the Pregnancy Test, You Don't know Jack, etc) and Jennifer Crusie (Fast Women, Welcome to Temptation, Anyone but you, Etc.) especially I found funny.  Inbetween the hot and funny, though, I like just plain hot.  After I posted above, I thought to myself, she did ask for hot and funny and I forgot about funny!  I am going to orde Flat Out Sexy.  I have been reading Wolf Tales and need something funny next.

Pamela

From Amazon about Alien Overnight by Robin Rotham:

"Commander Kellen is on Earth recruiting women for his planet's sex-starved males. Not particularly excited by human anatomy, he seeks nothing more for himself than the occasional slaking of his needs with some anonymous female which shouldn't be a problem, since she'll have to face the other way to accommodate his special anatomical needs. Dr. Monica Teague is thrilled with her ten-year assignment caring for Garathan's sexual recruits. Her quirky looks and childish excuse for a body guarantee she'll never be expected to put out which is kind of a bummer, now that she's up to her armpits in horny alien beefcake. But, when an overdose of alien pheromones makes Monica drunk off her ass, Kellen quickly claims the odd little doctor before another Garathani realizes what she is. The overdose sparks a violent chain reaction in her, and when Monica finally wakes, she's got the body of a porn star and two sexy alien mates who are determined to tame her. If only she were as determined not to let them...

I was laughing at the review, especially the "up to her armpits in horny alien beefcake".     thanks for the recommendation, Rose.

I really like Shelly Laurenston:  The Mane Event, The Beast In Him, and The Mane Attraction.   I think she's also featured in some Anthologies.  These are paranormal, and really fun.

This author also writes about dragons, under the name G A Aiken:  Dragon Actually and About a Dragon.

I can always count on a good story and a few laughs when I pick up one of her books.

I have 3 of the Laurenston books on the way and an anthology. I see that 3 are available on ebook from samhainpublishing.com...they give 'warning's and violence was one of the warnings...anyone familiar with how much/how graphic? I think the paperbacks are from brava but I know the ebook people don't really have a limit on sex and violence..(dont' care how far teh sex goes LOL)..the ebooks are Pack Challenge, Here Kitty Kitty, and Go Fetch. I wish Brava and Berkeley would stop luring these writers away from samhain and elloras' cave - the ebooks are more expensive!
