A wonderful accounting of a terrible time in the life of Francis Bok. I have met him and was inspired by his love of life and willingness to tell his story without animosity.
It sheds light on the plight of many children in the world who desperately need our help to be free. Never take our freedoms for granted. Just by the worst luck of being born in Sudan this boy lost his childhood at the hands of thugs.

May 1986: Seven-year-old Francis Bok was selling his mother's eggs and peanuts near his village in southern Sudan when Arab raiders on horseback burst into the quiet marketplace, murdering men and gathering the women and young children into a group. Strapped to horses and donkeys, Francis and others were taken into lives of slavery under wealthy Muslim farmers.
