Exile's Valor is a continuation of the tale begun in Exile's Honor: Alberich has found his niche at the Collegium as Weaponsmaster and Selenay is trying to fit into hers as the new Queen of Valdemar. The Council is busily trying to push Selenay into a "suitable" marriage, thinking her too young an inexperienced to rule alone, but she's not having any of it, and Talamir is increasingly withdrawn after the loss of his Companion Taver. Without a Queen's Own to rely on, and feeling isolated from the Herald's Circle, can Selenay hold the throne with just the support of her loyal Champion Alberich?
Excellent continuation of the Valdemar series. Looks further into the life of Alberich of Karse, Weaponsmaster.
Continuing the look at Alberich's head. As well as Selenay's, but not so close. And how Selenay's husband had... a "hunting accident."
Not as great as some of Lackey's other Valdemar novels, but I wouldn't rule it out completely. It definitely explains some gaps form the other books and gives history on a few of the characters that cross over.
Lackey again at her finest. A "very good read" to go along with the "Valdemar" series.
I liked the book, but then I love the Valdemar series.
One of my favorites - The continuing story of Alberich
This is one of the others that are non-re-reads for me in this series and even though I still knew how it would end, I really loved it. It was quite exciting and just plain fun! I was surprised that Myste ended up with Alberich after all... with the explanation of keeping it secret to explain why there are no hints of this relationship in the other books... still, it's a fun duo in the series and it was exciting to have the gaps actually filled in - even if the "facts" from this book doesn't always line up with the others... I was surprised how young Elspeth was when her father died... I had gotten the sense that she was older than a few months old...
Very enjoyable. A stand-alone read but fills in lots of info on this wonderful diverse universe that Ms. Lackey has created. Highly recommended for any one who enjoys fantasy.
