If you're expecting a retelling of the cutesy movie with Rosie O'Donell and Dan Akroyd (which I LOVE) - this is NOT the book for you.
Frankly sexual, disturbingly romantic - a very spicy read. The love scenes are...er...unconventional but captivating - if you are easily offended DON'T EVEN THINK about this book! If you are very open-minded and think that anything between two adults is good for them...try this! Think Drama/Erotica/Romance with a bit of recreational Sadomasochism thrown in...the book, unlike the movie, is NOT a lighthearted comedy, I'd call it more a dark psychological romance.
ALSO TRY: Belinda (written by Anne Rice, some older copies will say by Anne Rampling), or the Sleeping Beauty Series...the books are called The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty, Beauty's Punishment, and Beauty's Release), written under the pseudonym Anne Roquelaure. These are considered modern erotic classics, right up there with the Story of O (a good deal more interesting, if you ask around).

Very, very yummy and naughty writings of BDSM by Anne Rice. It gets into the participants heads while they explore their feelings and understanding of power exchange. MUCH, MUCH better and more intense than the campy movie production.

I thought it was going to be a lot....well...spicier. It is actually quite a moving love story and is more of a romance novel than erotica. It was very good, but not what I was expecting.
