As with other Dover coloring books this has very detailed pictures and non-fiction historical text. I am ashamed to admit that I actually have purchased three of these (in error) and we only need one. My children love the Dover coloring books and we use them in our homeschooling. My children like to color in pictures related to what we are learning, while I read aloud to them about the same topic (from a different book). We use these with our Story of the World by Susan Wise Bauer world history studies. I highly recommend all of the Dover coloring books for their high quality illustrations!
