To most of the nobility, Prudence Varney was an outsider -- even her porcelain beauty could not erase her heritage of shame. Pursued by an evil lord bent of vengeance, Prudence escapes aboard a ship bound for the colonies in the guise of an indentured male servant.

Her charade goes unnoticed until she is purchased by Flynt Birket, a man whose dark and intriguing gaze senses her secret.

But even as she surrenders to the glories of his sweet embrace, a cruel destiny mocks their passion and threatens to destroy them forever.

A pretty good book.

About 3/4ths of the way it the story was a little slow going. But the end was good.

Well done story set in 1664,begins in England and moves to the American colonies. Follows the relationship of a beleaguered heroine and an intriguing masked man she first spotted at a ball. Lots of adventures, pirates, surviving sophisticated threats and machinations. NB: I received this book with a torn from cover, which doesn't impact the readability.
