How often do you go to your FABIL?

Never.  I tried it when they first came out with it and it never found anything for me that sounded interesting.

Once, on day #2 of PBS membership.  Never again.  It's so off.

FABIL's suggestions are based on your swapping history and other activity on PaperbackSwap. On your second day of membership, it can only make wild guesses.

I don't use it much either. I've been a member for over a year and it's still off.

Sandy, it stands for 'Find a book that I'll like'. If you go to your account page, click on 'My Lists' and you will see it in the yellow space underneath.

I just checked it today for the first time in months and it really seems to be off. I couldn't find any books that I would like.lol

FABIL is a book suggestion system found under My Account/My Lists. It takes several different approaches to suggest books for you, some very simple--so new members without a history can get results--and some quite complex, so that members who use it regularly and are familiar with how to interact with it get the best results.

FABIL considers an enormous number of factors after it's been trained about your likes and dislikes. It combines 1) your actions on the FABIL and History pages with 2) most of your actions on the site (ordering, wishlisting, rating, reviewing, etc.)  and 3) info from our data providers about which books are similar to others.

I like FABIL, I usually find something to add to my WL or RL while I am in there. I do get some skewed results based on my Buddy List, though. I have some friends with some weird taste in books!

Mine continually recommends various editions of Jane Austen's books. It also doesn't seem to distinguish between books I read and liked and books I read and didn't like.  I like to look at it though because some of the suggestions are interesting.

I prefer to just use the "browse" function with my preferences added into the "settings" for my account.

I also love the "upcoming books to WL" stickies in the genre forums- those are great- I've found some great new authors & series that way...

My FABIL will never be accurate because I order/post for my husbands and sons, too.  With our greatly varied interests, I'm sure FABIL ends up confused.

I check it at least once per week. It's been fairly accurate, although most of the books that are suggested are ones which I've already read. The ones that I hadn't heard of, once I read the reviews if I like them I put them on my RL and try to find them in the BB.

I've looked at mine but can't say I've used it to select books.  It seems like it has the books I've read rather than something new for me.  Now, browsing and the forums lead me to more books!

I'm one of those I'm gonna join so I can get rid of my books.  Sure - my TBR went from 850 to 926 as of this morning.  And, I've sent out quite a few books this year.
