If you are expecting a typical 'popular history' book, this is probably not for you. Take a look at the reviews on Amazon for in-depth discussion of the plusses and minuses of this book. In short, it is a detailed but un-focused in-depth examination of the lives of virtually every Virginian of importance around the American revolution. If you are a Virginia history buff you will find this a treasure trove of detailed info on the upper class of Virginia around the revolution. Others will find it overwhelming and lacking some unifying narrative.
