The first book in this series is Thorn in My Heart. A wonderful story. Loved every minute. Fair is the Rose was good also but Jamie was sort of unbelievable. He loved Rose, then loved her sister Leana, then loved Rose again and just dumped Leana. Guess things were different in those days. I did enjoy it enough to get the third book.

Loved the story-line and the character development was great! I felt as if I was out on the land and in the houses with the characters! Really great writing!

Book #2 in the series. This is retelling of the biblical story of Leah and Rachel and Jacob. This is interesting because you aren't really sure of how the author is going to get all the biblical elements in and yet stay true to the era that she has but these characters in.

I've just finished Fair is the Rose. I am anxiously awaiting the third book in the series to come to me via PBS. I have to find out if Leanna will ever find her everlasting happiness. Seems now Rose is happy at her sister's expense and I'm not liking her too much at this point. Maybe she will redeem herself in the third book but in this book all she thought of was herself.

Takes place in scotland - the mcBride sisters are caught in a desperate situation. Both women have given their hearts to the same man, Jamie McKie of Glentrool. He cannot love them both - or can he?

I didn't cars for the first book in the series, so I have decided not to read this one. I don't care for the author's use of a biblical story in different setting.

Part 2 of the fictionalized Biblical story of Rachel & Leah. A page turner! One woman in our book group had to order Book 3 just to see what happened. She couldn't stand it!

A year has come and gone since Jamie McKie fled for his life, arriving at Auchengray in search of sanctuary and a bonny wife. Young Rose McBride, as fair a lass as any in Scotland, dearly loves her handsome cousinbut so does her older sister, Leana.

Determined to have Jamie all to herself, Rose puts in motion one desperate plan after another, enlisting the aid of Lillias Brown, a wise womana wutch, some saystill keen on the old ways. Impetuous Rose ignores the cruel whispers that travel up and down the parish hills, never dreaming of the tragic consequences that await her.

Her sister, Leana, clings to her hard-won sense of peace and assurance by a slender thread of faith. Day and night, Leanas hours are apent caring for wee Ian and praying that her future will hold more promise than her past.

Jamie McKie is busy making his own plans to return home to Glentrool and claim his inheritance. To do so means facing Evan, the brother whose blessing he stole, and Alec, the father whom he ruthlessly deceived. It is a perilous journey that will test the depth of his courage, the strength of his sword, and the tenacity of his vow to honor Almighty God, no matter the cost.
