This is a story of four sisters who, after losing their father unexpectedly, respond to an ad for mail order brides. Each sister receives a response taking the sisters to four different locations.
This book, book 1 of the series, takes off with the story of Faith. The author did a good job of showing the love and respect the sisters had for each other, their father and the aunt left to care for them. As the story continues Faith arrives in Deliverance, Texas to marry a wealthy rancher who lives with this 52-year-old mother.
The story develops slowly from this point on as if the author was unsure how she wanted to complete it. The character Liza (Nicholas' mother) is extraordinary rude, offense and downright mean to Faith (and everyone else). It turns out all this was due to her going through 'the change'. Really? Who can get away with being that mean for two years and blame it on 'the change? Either should have had another cause or not as mean all the time - maybe mood swings instead.
The story seesaws back and forth with Nicholas and Faith's relationship leaving the reader frustrated.
Then all the sudden a fairytale ending? Very unrealistic. That said, I did read this in one day. Was good for a relaxing easy read.
I love this author and this series "Brides of the West" is one of my all time favorites. There were times when I laughed out loud when reading this.
I enjoyed this unlikely romance. Faith is a mail order bride who wishes to honor the Lord in all she does. Nicholas and his mother, Liza, have a dubious welcome to this bride-to-be; their home is so different than the one Faith left. Delay of the marriage raises doubts about the wisdom of the marriage. The characters were well drawn and I cared what happened to them. I found the working out of the story to be gripping and interesting.
This is a extremly good book. All four in the series is read worthy.
I love this book and all the rest of the Brides of the ewest series that I have read. I feel refreshed after reading about love from a clean standpoint. Faith goes to marry Nicholas and all sorts of things stop the process of marriage from happening. I leave the rest for you to find out. If you are sappy you will laugh and maybe cry as you read this series. Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!
Faith, one of three sisters who become mail order brides. Her sisters are Hope and June each with a story of her own in separate books. The tales are lighthearted, funny and romantic stories of the west in the old days and are based on the girl's faith in God. Well worth the read.
Easy reading novel. I look forward to the sequels.
Very good quick reading story. Lots of biblical references. I am looking forward to reading more of Lori Copeland's books.
great read, read it in a day.this girl in this story is headstrong, but a delight.
This is one of my favorites. Ms. Copeland has a way with a story that makes you want to keep reading.
Nicholas did not know what to expect from his mail-order bride. What he found in Faith changed his life forever.
This series is one of my all-time favorites!
