Written from the point of view of a mother whose son (finally!) comes out to the family -- Mom, Dad, younger brother. Mom moves from shock, horror, and ignorance (of a "does this mean you have AIDS?" variety) to acceptance, indignation on the part of her son, and activism of her own. She shows you how the whole family has been affected -- how, for example, in the hubbub about one son, they nearly lost sight of the other son; how some people they had thought were friends reacted terribly; how some people they never would have expected to react well actually turned out to be their most ardent supporters; and so on. The writer's tone is unique and never dull, she doesn't spare herself at all, and even the people who tick her off get a fair reading. Good stuff.
