The Fasting Story Number 1 Author:Health Research Fasting is one facet of Natural Hygiene. Hygiene is not a system of medicine nor one of the healing arts or a system of therapeutics. It offers the patient no cures, has no cures, denies all cures, does not pretend to cure but it permits nature to remove Toxemia from the human body and teaches that enervation and toxemia are the basic causes o... more »f disease symptoms. Nothing so effectively speeds up the elimination of Toxemia and the restoration of nerve force as physiological rest or fasting. Fasting is abstinence from all food and drink except water.
Since writing writing and compiling this volume in 1953, I have supervised the fasting of over 1,000 patients. Many phenomenal results were obtained and the majority of patients were well pleased with their change in health. From my experience I found fasting the nearest to a panacea. However this method will not always correct the same symptoms in all people. Many wait until they have a 'foot in the grave' before fasting--others wil experience such well-being after fasting that they will overeat and nullify the results of a well-conducted fast.
We do not recommend fasting for the following: Lead Poisoning, Diabetes (over six month's duration), advanced Osteo-arthritis (where X-ray shows osseous tissue erosion), Tuberculosis and 'wasting disease' - where the body is emaciated, organic cardiac cases and the aged.
