Jennifer C. (Callalily) reviewed Our Fathers : The Secret Life of the Catholic Church in an Age of Scandal on
Amazing book! It is almost 600 pages which at first seems daunting but in the end it is well worth the read. I could not put it down. As a Catholic Bostonian, who was parochial school educated- I have known some of these Church figures all of my life, I have received and witnessed sacraments in two of the churches discussed. But the book was about so much more than Boston; it drew in the entire picture of scandal across the entire country. It made me infinately sad at times to read and revisit the news articles about the survivors and the ways that Church officals enabled the abuse to endure, but "knowledge is power" and I still can't recommend this book strongly enough to agnostics and the devoutly faithul alike.
