I've never read an LKH. I've seen her name listed many times when posters are asked who their favorite author is. Which book do you recommend for a first timer?

Well I of course started with Guilty Pleasures. It's the first book in the Anita Blake series.

My favorite book by Laurell K. Hamilton is The Lunatic Cafe, but since it's the fourth book in the Anita Blake series, naturally start with Guilty Pleasures! ;)

Start with Guilty Pleasures but don't read past Obsidian Butterfly...it's pretty much porn after that :/

And no I'm not a prude. I just like zombie raising Anita much better than the Anita that screws anything...and everything :P

I third what she said. I loved them up until then, but I won't even mention which was my fav because I cannot in good conscience promote them.

I concur with the other three ladies.   The series starts out compelling, and draws you in.  Then deteriorates.    I bought Micah, but never read it.    Posted my whole keeper set a couple of months ago.

I just picked up # 1 and 2 at a thrift shop, and added them to my shelf tonight.   Nice paperback copies.

Thanks for the info. I plan to read from Guilty Pleasures to Obsidian Butterfly.
