The era that occurs in this book is pre-Napoleon, so it is a time of powdered wigs, and very strict mores in England. To save her family from ruin, Clara agrees to wed the mysterious Italian Count Anton so-and-so, and he and his companion, Tresa, inaugurate the naive Clara into the more decadent pastimes of the rich and debauched as they travel through Europe. There is quite a bit of whipping, and threesomes of various kinds, so be forewarned that this is not for the sensitive or curious, but more for the jaded.
