R.E.K. --- That surprises me about Abe's.  Most of the seller's, at least the U.S. ones, also sell on Amazon.  For some reason their books are usually less expensive on Abe's which tells me Abe's likely does not charge as much as Amazon to the re-sellers.  I have even bought several books from the U.K. on Abe's and have never had an issue.  I suppose there are likely less than excellent re-sellers everywhere.

I haven't had problems with Abe's either. I've ordered from them a number of times over the past few years.

I've started The King's Man by Pauline Gedge, the last in this ancient Egypt h/f series. This one will take a while to read; it's a whopper at 629 pages.

I'm trying to remember what happened.  I think the book I ordered arrived broken in half so I've never ordered another from them.

I can't blame you R E K. One bad experience with a company can be enough to put you off.

City for Ransom by Robert W. Walker is mesmerizing and a read to be treasured.  It's exciting!  It's incredible!  The author weaves a darn good yarn that takes place during the World's Fair in Chicago.  As murder after murder is committed in the shadow of the famed ferris wheel, Alastair Ransom, one of CPDs finest, finds few clues as to who is committing these atrocities.  Yet as the murders come closer and closer to him, Ransom is more stumped until his best friend, Philo Keane, a freelance photographer, is arrested for the murders.  Preposterous!  Suddenly the pieces fall into place and Ransom realizes who must be committing these horrible crimes.  How he does it remains for the reader to discover hurdling through the pages to save those closest to Ransom.

Great review, R E K. Sounds like a good reading substitute for all of the British TV murder mysteries I've become addicted to lately.

R.E.K. --- That book does sound interesting.  It does not come in a Kindle format for those, like me, who are reading more Kindle books.  However, it is available from Amazon for $.99 plus shipping.  I am really trying not to accumulate too many paper books prior to my move!!!  There will be enough to unpack when I finally get to my destination!!!!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY TO ALL!!!!!!

Reading News of the World byPaulette Jills.  It's a story about a 70+ man who is transporting a ten-year-old girl across Texas to her aunt and uncle.  Her parents and brother were killed in an Indian raid and she has lived with the tribe since.  This is the story of their travels.  The child is more Indian now than white in her mind but as they travel she begins to bond with the Captain.  It's delightful in so many ways and startling in others.  I quite like it.

R E K,  I thoroughly enjoyed News of the World also.  "Delightful" is a perfect adjective.
