Kelly, That is one that is a hold over from last year and I think that is a fine idea it's a great book and I certainly don't mind reading it again.

1.  River God, by Wilbur Smith  (55 copies available.)

2.   Daughters of the Witching Hill, by Mary Sharratt.  (0 copies available)

3.   Silver Lies, by Ann Parker  (0 copies available)

4.  The Crystle Cave by Mary Stewart (8 copies available two different editions)

I'm not sure that I'll have time to do a read along (company, you know) but one book that I recently acquired and intrigues me is Daughters of the Witching Hill by Mary Sharratt.

OR - one of the Ann Parker books, like Leaden Skies.

Jeanne Leaden Skies is the 3rd in the series, wouldn't it be best to start at the beginning with Silver Lies?  These look really good BTW  I am going to use them in mystery challenge.

I think The Crystal Cave is another hold over from last year that should be considered.

And how about something from Colleen McCullough?  First Man in Rome or The Touch?  (although her books are door stoppers and might take more than a month to read!)

The Ann Parker books are good, and quick easy reads. I just finished book four and can't wait for the next. Has anyone been looking at The Rebel Wife: A Novel by Taylor M Polites? Coming out Feb. 7.

Christa, I am a bit leery about putting a doorstopper on the read along list.   But Crystal Cave is another really good book,

I need to re-read Crysal Cave.  I read too many different Arthur books too close together, and now I can't keep them straight.  I need to re-read Crystal Cave before going on to the rest of the series.

Well we will keep this thread going for awhile and then vote, just after New Years just to give everyone who wants to participate in the read along and is crazy busy or traveling time to check in.  I would like to get Feb and April read along books set at that time.

Crystal Cave really isn't that bad size wise unless you have it as part of the trilogy.  My vote goes for that one.

I would love to do Christa's suggestion of First Man in Rome for a future one....I've chosen to do a read-along (I'm a virgin) for the challenge...

Ohhhhhh....I don't know what to vote for!  I've always wanted to read some Mary Sharratt, but I don't have that one on my shelf.  I do have Crystal Cave on my shelf, and others are jumping on my First Man in Rome bandwagon, even though it is a door stopper.

I'm hesitant to start out the Read-Along year with a door-stopper.  We started last year with Pink Carnation, and that felt good to start off with something easy and light.  A lot of people participated and generated interest in the read alongs.

I checked all three of the ones I don't have on my shelf and none of them are available from my library in paper or on Kindle, so I think I will throw my vote  Crystal Cave.
