Over the past 2 months, 3 of my wishlisted books became available.  I snapped them up...they were shipped...

And here I sit, lonely, no books in my hand.

I've already been credited for the first one.  I'm afraid the other two will end up being credited too.  But it looks so fishy, that I order books but don't get them!  Especially so close together.

I normally don't have trouble with receiving books.   But I'm sure this looks fishy to people!

I won't worry too much.  Media mail is nuts around the holidays.  I just had one of mine that I just delivery confirmation go lost.  I mailed it, it got scanned, but the member hasn't gotten it.

Plus, the PBS staff looks at in the context of all the members.  Three might seem fishy to you but maybe there was a spike in lost books or maybe they were known bad senders or they went through known bad post offices.

Kate's right.  Beyond the idea that there might be a problem with the PO, you're pretty much in the clear.  Lost books happen, and should be reported or followed up on if it becomes a regular problem (check this Help Center link: A book I requested is lost in the mail. What now?).  It takes a bit longer than most people think for all the little "dings" to add up, and considering how likely it is for books to have actually gone missing over the holiday season I think you get a generous benefit of the doubt, so I wouldn't worry.

I've had a similar worry but over marking books RWP.  I've had a few of them lately as a receiver.  I don't want to get a reputation as a habitual complainer.  I'm just tired of getting books with loose pages or big unidentified stains. Like the big yellow splash of something on the book I got today. I don't want to even know what it is/was.  Yuk.

I wouldn't worry about it. I would think it would take more then 3 books going lost over a major Holiday season to earn a reprimand from PBS.  And who knows maybe they'll show up now that the Holidays are over.

I thought the same thing when I got four water damaged books in a row. Don't sweat it.

I sent a book to Florida (from Kansas) on December 17, and it's still out there somewhere as it hasn't been marked received.  I suspect it might go lost, however sent one to Hawaii, and it took 6 weeks to get there (it was sent by boat)!!!  Pat

I just had one make it to Alaska (from Kansas) faster than a DVD set that I sent to Nebraska (from KANSAS!!)   The mail is still screwy right now. :)

Did any of the books have Delivery Confirmation on them?  If so they can be tracked.

As everyone else has said, the holiday mail is still taking a little longer, so maybe they'll still show up.

Book are taking longer with the holidays. I just had a book that I sent in AUG arrive yesterday to its requester. That is a long time. She marked it received and then we decided that it had been used to prop up a table leg for a while. Hope your books arrive soon.

I have also had a book arrive with tire tracks on the packaging.  It was pretty amazing, actually.

You know, I really didn't give it a second thought until the last week or two.  If a book was marked mailed, but I didn't get it, I just assumed they didn't mail it in the first place.  So I have no clue how many of those there might be!

And, actually, the books I sent out in the last month have been arriving at light speed -- even faster than I would expect first class mail to be.  It's been really nice!  :-)

That'd definitely be a keeper, Laurie...I'd have to at least frame the wrapping!

Be sure to check your address on your account.  And mention it to your PO.

"If a book was marked mailed, but I didn't get it, I just assumed they didn't mail it in the first place."

So you have never had a book you mailed go lost? Then you're one of the only ones. It just happened to me for the first time and you can bet I mailed it the day I clicked "Book mailed." I admit I often think the negative "They didn't mail it" or "They received it, but aren't marking it shipped because they want to keep a credit." But I've learned this is really not cool thinking.

The last three books I have mailed (after Christmas) have arrived in record time--3/4 days. Unbelievable!
