When a book I send goes lost, do I lose a credit? I still have a week before it goes lost, I was just wondering- I've never had one before.

Yes, I think you do if you didn't pay extra for the PBS delivery confirmation.

I wouldn't worry too much yet though, it seems like mailing has been slower lately (at least for me).

You won't get the credit unless you used the PBS DC.  It'll probably still get there.  I've sent over 400 books and I have yet to have one go lost.  Sometimes they go almost to that last date.  But none have gone lost yet.

I think I've had two that I sent out go lost since I've been here.  The first one I was out a credit on, and the second one was after I started using PBS postage, so I got to keep that one.  It's worth it to me to send my books and not have to worry - plus, when I have to go to the PO, I don't have to wait in line.  I sell about half of my credits through the BB anyway to fund my postage account, so I end up not quite breaking even on my book expenses, but close enough to make my voracious reading habits much more affordable:P

Never give up though.  I had a book go lost and 6 months later it was marked received.

Thanks guys! I'm not too worried about it, and I hope it does show up sooner or later. If I miss out on a credit, I'll live. :)

I am a fairly new member...3 months and about 65 books mailed each way. Here is the MOST peculiear thing. Not only have I had two books on their way TO me go lost, but it was the same title. I ordered it from a second member after the first got lost. It too went lost. I figured I just wasn't supposed to read it for...whatever....

Very very spooky in a way.

I've had 2 go lost in the past month, and looking at another one.  One showed up (only one state over - KS to OK) and it took 6 weeks.  The other 2 are still out there somewhere.

You won't get the credit however, unless as everyone said above you used DC or it eventually gets to the requester.  Pat
