From back cover: In Felicity's Dancing Shoes, Felicity begins dancing lessons at Miss Manderly's. The lessons are hard, but Felicity's dancing improves when she borrows Nan's dainty shoes. When Felicity has to wear her own shoes again, she discovers where the real magic was. *****After you read Felicity's story, learn how to make a proper curtsy and dance the minuet, just as Felicity learned at Miss Manderly's.
Felicity's adventures are always great fun. She learns a valuable lesson but not what she had expected. As always a good opportunity to talk about one's choices. The back of the book provides a lesson on the proper curtsy and the Minuet. A good way to introduce children to the type dancing of Felicity's day would be to find a family oriented Contra dance. The Fiddleheads are a group in my area of musicians whose ages go up to teenagers and a few adults and they play jigs and reels which are fun to dance to. A fun book to read and learn from.
