Once again Nicole Jordan thrills and enchants with this fabulously seductive Regency romance, the next installment in the Paradise series.

She is the woman of his dreams . . .
and he will pay any price to possess her.

From the moment he met the lovely Lady Eve, soldier of fortune Alex Ryder set his sights on winning the spirited beauty. But fate intervened, making Eve another mans wife then a widow. Now, despite Eves ardent vow never to marry again, Ryder aims to use every seductive weapon in his arsenal to woo her.

A renowned matchmaker for the ton, Eve defies Ryders wicked allure but cannot resist his challenge to find him a suitable bridenever dreaming that she is the only woman he will ever desire for his bride, or that his breathtaking sensuality will awaken her to soul-searing passion.

But as their delicious mating dance begins, an assailant threatens Eves life. Now Ryder must protect Eve while striving to convince his beloved that he alone is her perfect match in the tantalizing game of love.

I gave it only three stars. Was a fair story, but not her usual best... did not keep me wanting to turn the pages.. Was just ok!

4th book in Paradise series. I had really been looking forward to Ryder's story since he was involved in so many of the other books. The "threat" against them wasn't as predictable as in the prior book. Also I again loved the little side love stories going on with some of the secondary characters that have been introduced throughout the books. I would have appreciated Eve standing up to the meddling aunts a little more since her character was suppose to be about independence and not letting anyone control her. I thought how she handled them was a contradiction to her character a little. Overall enjoyed the book & the series.

Guardian of the Sword Alex Ryder has loved Lady Eve before he received knighthood and she married Lord Seymour. He failed to act on his feelings so he lost her. When her abusive spouse died, Alex decides to court his beloved, but quickly realizes that Eve mistrusts males having had a bad experience with her late husband.

Eve's sister Claire Montlow wants only happiness for her special sibling and believes Alex is the person who can provide that to her. She concocts a devious scheme in which she asks her sister to serve as a matchmaker between her and Alex. Claire assumes this will awaken Eve's heart to the love that Alex offers. As Eve rejects Alex's pleas of love, someone tries to kill her. He will risk his life to keep his beloved safe even though she rejects his song of love.

The latest Guardian romance is a fun tale that series fans will enjoy. The story line is at its best when the hero is a swashbuckling hero rescuing his woman, but at times slows down with Eve's constant lament that she's not in love until she becomes a woman in peril. Regency readers will appreciate the machinations of Claire as she sees what her sister cannot accept. Overall this is a fine entertaining historical romance that adds to the legends of the Guardians of the sword (see WICKED FANTASY).
